It’s not what it looks like

Let’s imagine that there are prisoners chained together in a cave since birth. Behind the prisoners, there is a fire, and between the fire and the prisoners are people carrying puppets or other objects. These cast a shadow on the other side of the wall, so the prisoners watch these shadows, believing them to be real.

One prisoner becomes free. He finally sees the fire and realizes that the shadows are not what they thought they were. This prisoner escapes from the cave and discovers there is a whole new world outside that they were previously unaware of it.

When the prisoner sees the real world for the first time, his eyes hurt because he is not used to the light, he is used to the darkness. Time passes by, and his eyes start to see clearly. The prisoner now believes that the outside world is so much more real than the one in the cave. He tried to return to free the other prisoners. Upon his return, he is blinded because his eyes are not accustomed to the darkness anymore. The chained prisoners would see this blindness and believe they will be harmed if they try to leave the cave, just like the one that escape. They preferred to stay in the cave being lied to, than escape and live in freedom.

Lied to0

The Bible says that the devil comes only to steal, kill, destroy, prisoned us, and lie. I don’t know what kind of lie the devil has been telling you though, or for how long has he been lying to you.

The darkness likes you

Maybe he is showing you a reality (shadow) that seems better and easier than what God has promised you. Maybe he is making you believe that if you stay in the cave you will be safe and that the light can only hurt you. Dear friend, in the creation we can see God creating everything we see now including light, the bible says that God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God himself said , the light is good so never cursed something that God already blessed. Not only that but He also separated the light from darkness, meaning you can't have them both, you can't be a fountain with salty and sweet water at the same time. The good thing about all this is that we can actually scape darkness.

The only way you will be able to escape is if you see the fire, just like the prisoner did.

Follow the light

The fire (light) was the one that made the prisoner realize that everything was an illusion. That light is Jesus himself. He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Just like the prisoner was free from the chains, Christ has set us free too. But we are the ones that decide to stay in the cave or follow the light.

Do not pay attention to the “wall” look at the fire. The fire (Holy Spirit) will always guide you to freedom and truth.

HEY! get out of the cave, scape.

What you see is not what it looks like, it’s just the shadows of what God really has for you. God has better things for you than what you see in “the wall” of your present, your situation, your capacity, your talent, and your today. Escape from your sin, your anxiety, your depression, your problems, none of that, is what God has for you. Stop looking at “the wall” and look at “the fire”, the fire will guide you to freedom and light.
